 3) Counted blessings

One should always play their cards fair, don’t you think? I mean, hiding them in your sleeve, will that truly give you a sense of accomplicement? No, it certainly won’t. Our choices build the world around us and if so, shouldn’t we try to make the best choices from everyone’s point of view?

I, for one, truly have made my choice. I had the chance to become something much more powerful, someone who is feared by many and respected by the others. But that is not the road I chose. Instead, I focus on the small things, such as the smallest plant’s beauty or the light in children’s eyes when they partake in the simplest of pleasures: human company. It doesn’t mean it’s a quiet life, for all have their battles to struggle through. What it is, though, is a life full of heartfelt smiles.

How blessed I am to have found a relationship based on mutual love, how fortunate to be able to rear and watch over my children. I consider this the absolute freedom, the kind that can flourish even within the most definitively closed boundaries. My heart cannot be chained down, it will rebel against oppression and flourish.

Simply realizing one’s own worth and place may well take time and truly, it is not a journey that has a defined end. Perhaps it goes on in the afterlife, as I for one choose to believe there is such a level of existance. I wonder what we bring with us to that side? Hopefully, the best parts about everything stays with us, together with the memory of life. The pain and the sadness, suffering, despair, hunger, thirst, worry, depression, quilt, and all those negative emotions and experiences I’m forgetting to write down, I also wish to keep with me, if only as concepts or fragments. However, the positive side is what makes me wish there is a continuation, the kind where we are truly free, unchained… and ourselves.

A wild, wise Mother rambles on... : )

(I can clearly see my lack of skill in English here, lol. But I think I hid it well enough. ;) )
